Music at Barnes…

Our music curriculum is designed to develop children as confident performers, listeners and creators who can express themselves and communicate through sound.

Our curriculum is carefully sequenced from EYFS to Year 2, building children’s knowledge of musical elements such as rhythm, pitch and tempo, while prioritising vocabulary and oracy so that all children can participate and succeed.

We are fortunate to work alongside Dr Brendon Renwick, whose specialist expertise strengthens the design and delivery of our music curriculum, ensuring high-quality teaching, strong subject knowledge and rich musical experiences for all pupils.

We ensure children experience music as a shared, meaningful and expressive part of their lives through opportunities to perform, compose and respond to a range of musical styles.

Children leave Barnes Infant Academy with the confidence, knowledge and enthusiasm to continue their musical journey.
