Computing
Computing at Barnes…
Our computing curriculum enables children to understand how digital technology works, how it shapes the world around them and how to use it safely and responsibly.
Learning builds on early experiences with technology developed in the Early Years, where children explore simple digital tools and begin to understand cause and effect. In Key Stage One, computing knowledge is carefully sequenced so that pupils develop understanding of algorithms, programming, digital information and online safety.
Vocabulary and discussion are prioritised so that children can explain how programs work, identify and correct errors and talk confidently about digital systems and online safety.
Our computing curriculum is designed to be inclusive so that all pupils can succeed. Lessons use clear modelling, practical activities and step-by-step approaches to support children in developing confidence when using technology.
Through computing at Barnes, pupils develop secure digital knowledge, problem-solving skills and responsible online behaviours, preparing them for continued computing learning in Key Stage 2 and beyond.
